HISTORY.

The Trust has a history dating far back as the 1980s when the Founder first visited the Gambia as a tourist. Moved with compassion at the poverty level of the average Gambia, the founder was forced to gather resources to start a work that will help uplift the living standard of the people and save them from the horrors of poverty. Though it started small, there had always been a focus and a target - reaching out to a povertystricken people and helping them to help themselves.

Starting with very little resources put together by core members and other generous individuals/organisations in the UK, tools and equipments were shipped to The Gambia from time to time, with the target groups directly benefitting from whatever was brought in by the Trust. As time went on, tangible results of the efforts of the Trust began to surface within the Gambian community, and thus the Trust was able to win the confidence and credibility of groups and individuals who were reedy to help. This led to the establishment of links and corporation with donors in Europe and elsewhere who also became interest in the work. The Trust thus received tremendous help from many donors in Europe, and here a special thanks to "Tools With A Mission."

As the years past by, the people and government of The Gambia began to recognize the efforts of the Trust at national level and this consequently led to the state recognition and registration of the Trust as a non-governmental organisation with international status - A NGO 39. Today, though we are still a small organisation, there are tangible testimonies and undeniable proofs of the aid we are bringing into this country, and the tenacity with which we are pursing our goal of helping the average Gambia to himself. So our success over the years can be attributed to our commitment towards the main aim of the Trust, and the genuine sincerity with which we have handled every single aid placed into our hand. Apart from the aid Kingfisher is getting from/ through other organisations, for which we are very grateful,.

WE ARE BOLD TO SAY THAT TENACITY, INTEGRITY AND GENUINE INTEREST IN THE PEOPLE, ARE THE SECRETS BEHIND THE SUCCESS AND FLOURISHING OF THE TRUST.
