By Njameh Bah

A three-classroom block, kitchen and toilets were recently opened in Pirang village, Kombo East.

The main sponsors of the project were the Rotary Club of Roosendaal in Holland and the NCDO, another well- known charity in Holland.

Stichting Bouwen, another charity in Holland managed the building project. This charity of building engineers and architects, managed the project on behalf of the Trust and they taught the locals who worked on the building, where necessary.

The founder of this charity is Mr Eric de Ruiter. He and his partner, Ms Michelle Tuithoff, have now managed several projects in The Gambia. Recently, just before the Pirang project ,the duo did oversee one building project in Indonesia. They have also received request from Ghana.

The Rotary Club of Venlo Maas en Peel had already donated special nursery school furniture and now the members of the Roosendaal Rotary Club have also donated more school furniture and four large boxes of toys to Pirang so that the school could start a 'Dream Corner'for the little children to start using the school furniture.
