Kingfisher Trust, charitable organisation operating in
The Gambia had filed a law suit against OK Gambia, at the
Kanifine- Magistrates' Court before Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mhacke
over a sign hoard.
Testifying before the court, One Simon Wezel, told the court that King Fisher
Trust was set up in 1994 as a charitable organisation purposely to donate and support skill centres, such as
schools, clinics. hospitals, police, etc.
According to him, it is a charitable organisalion that supports The Gambia and
gets its funding mainly from the United Kingdom and Holland.
He further adduced that they are not
involved in any
commercial activities to raise
fund.
He indicated that there was a sign board, in which it was written KINGFISHER
OKGambia," and many people followed the direction of the sign hoard which led them to the business
centre.
He further adduced that many people were
asking him if Kingfisher Trust had been using sponsorship money for a commercial
enterprise.
According to him. their head office in the
U.K h.id made several enquiries about whether Kingfisher
are using sponsors money for commercial enterprise and that
they had also received email enquiries from a representative. of a Rotary club in
Holland.
At this juncture. the
plaintiff's Counsel applied to tender an email letter as an exhibit
which was accepted by the court.
The case as adjourned to 7 December 2009.
